For any of you that have read my previous experiences, this is an older one going back to my second lobe piercing, a D.I.Y. job which made me faint, enjoy laughing at me! Although I am against D.I.Y. piercings and do not condone them, this experience is going back about 7 years ago and talks about my second piercing experience. I do not recommend any of you do the same, go to a piercing studio and get it done properly!
At A Glance Author Brad Porter Contact issueskid@yahoo.co.uk IAM issueskid When Five years ago Studio Home Location Tamworth, Staffordshire, England I first had my ear pierced at the age of 3, this was in a hair dressers and done with a gun, soon after I remember asking my mom to take it out because I was scared of it, I did not want her to clean it, turn it or even touch it because I thought it would hurt. 10 or so years on I still hated the thought of piercings, and in a way I still do because I always shit myself when I go for a new one, yet something tells me to go in for another!
I kept talking to my mom about piercings, asking her about my ear and if it would hurt, I could not remember much about the original one because I was 3, all I remember was crying and pain! Eventually I decided that I would get my original lobe piercing back. I looked at my ear in the mirror a few times and prodded a blunt stud against my lobe, maybe to see how it would look or how painful it would be, or maybe hoping to ram it through.
At this time my mom was going out with a bloke into body building and so he had needles for steroids I suppose. She convinced me that it would be a good idea to have my ear pierced with a needle, a fresh one of course! Not knowing too much I said ok but I was still worried about the pain.
My mom's boyfriend came round maybe a few days later and brought a new needle, I had a gold wire hoop for my ear (like I said at the time I was young and did not know much). I sat on my sofa and started to get worried, after all I hated needles and I really did not know what to expect. I glanced at the very short and very scary needle. I then sat still and closed my eyes.
A sharp sting! Oh no, this is a killer, the needle seemed to take forever to go through, I could feel my head spinning, when it went through I opened my eyes and all I could see was a white haze, I was about to faint... I decided to get fresh air so I stood up and proceeded for the back door, bad idea. I could not even see the table in the middle of the room, I fell over that got back up and tried to run for the door. The next few minutes were pretty much a blur, all I know is the hoop was not in my ear! What a waste.
Later that day, after I felt a little better, I was down my mom's friends' house. They all heard about my recent brush with death (yeah right). Mark, the son of my mom's friend offered to get the hoop in my now almost closed fresh piercing. I did not like the idea but I went through with it deciding it would not be as bad as the actual piercing had been. He found a hoop and sat me down then proceeded to ram this piece of wire in my ear...it went in finally and I had myself a new ear piercing. Surprisingly the piercing healed fine and I had no problems at all.
12 piercings later I am still alive and very much addicted! I am glad that I have gained a better understanding of body piercing, never again would I attempt a D.I.Y. piercing. For a start, I am really bad with pain, secondly the risk of infection and things going wrong is just too much, I would rather have a professional pierce me and I hope you guys do the same.
I accept that some of you guys do pierce yourselves and you pretty much know what you are doing by the sounds of most of the experiences I have read. For you people new to piercings or people thinking of doing a D.I.Y. job, I really do suggest you pay the money and go to a studio, it is always good to know you are paying for a decent piercing that you can be happy with and most of the time you can guarantee to have no problems and help is always available from your piercing studio.
Thanks for reading.
