I had been thinking of getting my rook pierced since I was introduced to it by my friend. I already had 11 piercings (it sounds crazy but I had my bellybutton, my nose, three in each lobe, and three cartilidge, two of which have retired) so I knew the whole deal. My parents didn't have a problem with it as long as I took good care of it and they knew I would. One day I was out eating dinner with my family and was thinking about it and I told them I wanted to go after we were done eating. They agreed and took my to the same shop where my mom had gotten her nose pierced. I talked to the guy for awhile then he asked me how old I was. I told him and he kinda sighed and said well you have to be 16 even if you are with your parents. He explained how it was the law in Arizona that they could not use a needle on a nyone under 16 or else it was considered child abuse. I knew that a gun was not gonna be the right way to go so I sighed and said ok. I was extremely disappointed and we left the shop but by then it was too late to go anywhere else. Then the next day I told my mom we should go to another shop and get it done. She said ok and off we went.
At A Glance Author whitegurlforever Contact Gidgetpizzahead@aol.com When A month ago Artist Kraiger Studio The Tattoo Shop Location Tucson, Arizona When we got there I asked if they would be willing to pierce me and the guy (Kraiger) said yeah it was fine. He asked me what I wanted done and I said my rook. He then showed me his in both of his ears and told me that it could take anywhere from two to twelve months to heal. I asked if my ear was suitable for the piercing and he said yes. I had to fill out the paperwork then they took me to the back. I sat on a stool and Kraiger asked which side I wanted pierced. I told him my left and he said ok and told me the procedure. He said that for my ear a 16 gauge captive bead ring would be best, which was what I wanted anyway. He cleaned my ear with rubbing alcohol and marked it. I looked in the mirror and said the placement was fine. I am too wussy to watch though so I closed my eyes. He told me to breathe in and out and asked if I wanted to know when he was going to do it. I said no, not to tell me. I could feel him putting the recieving tube up against my ear but that hurt pretty bad because the way my cartlidge was bent around. I never heard any pop or crunch noises, in fact, I could not feel the actual piercing because there was so much pressure. He said ok its pierced hold on while I put the ring in and I thought to myself wow that hurt but when did he do it? Putting the ring in was quite a bit more painful though. He had a little bit of trouble getting the ball in because of the anatomy of my ear. After it was all over I got up and looked in the mirror and was immediately happy.
We paid and left, not forgetting to tip him for the wonderful job he did. I took ibuprofen right after because it was kinda sore and took more before I went to bed that night. Cleaning it was pretty difficult though. I was told to use Bactine and sea salt soaks ocasionly but it was pretty hard for me to get my ear inside the cup I used to clean in. I found out that spraying bactine and twisting the jewelery around was a lot easier.
It hurt for the rest of that evening and when I would accidently pick up the phone too fast. I could not sleep on it for about four days and could not cradle the phone on that ear for a little over a week. The first time I rotated the ring it bled a little and was sore. After about three days I could touch it without it hurting. On the fourth and fifth days I had a little bit of crust around the ring but I just cleaned it off with a q-tip
It has been about a month now and I love my piercing. The only other person I have seen with it is my friend. It is a very unique piercing. It is small and feminine. I have recieved many compliments on how cute and unique it is. I would tell anyone to get this piercing. It is very original and looks cute alone, not tacky or big or anything like that. Now I am considering my tongue or another navel.
