I'd wanted a septum piercing for ages when I was younger so I looked it up on the internet and came up with BME. I put it in my Explorer favourites list and forgot about it until a couple of months ago when I came across it in my favourites list. After looking at all the pictures I decided on getting an anti-tragus piercing. I had originally wanted my tragus pierced but then decided that it was probably a bit too small so I changed my mind to an anti-tragus, but went back to a tragus but I thought it was definitely too small so I changed my mind again and chose to get my daith pierced but I thought that maybe that was too small too plus I didn't know how to pronounce it which I didn't want to end in embarrassment so I stuck with the anti-tragus.
At A Glance Author twiggyspotter Contact xpunk_junkeex@yahoo.co.uk When A month ago Studio Area 51 Location Basingstoke UK I looked in the Yellow pages for body piercers and out of the two that were there I chose Area 51 in Basingstoke which I decided on because it was only a short train ride away and it wasn't a tattooists as well because they quite freaked me out at the time. So I went one day during the half term holiday as since I'm 16, I don't need an adult for consent.
I got there and found the shop nearly straight away though walked past it a few times because I was really nervous. I went in and it was nothing like I expected. I'd been told that it was also a shop which was obvious from the outside but once you got inside there was very little there. This and the fact that there were three assistants to one customer (me) I found made my nerves worse but I couldn't just walk back out again so I asked if they did anti-tragus piercing. I was taken to the till at the back where I was given a piece of paper to sign on which I was looking for trick questions though they seemed quite straight forward. I gave the form back and was given a piece of paper with aftercare instructions on. I picked out a 1.6 (14) gauge barbell after being given the choice between a 1.2 (16) and a 1.6 (14) and followed one of the blokes through to a room. The floor was a bit dirty but apart from that everything else was pretty clean. I sat down on the doctors' bed thing and he told me that a 1.2 (16) gauge would probably be better so I just agreed but now I'm wanting to stretch it due to the lack of jewellery in a 1.2 (16).
The piercing I think was the easiest part. In between changing his gloves numerous times, he cleaned my ear with what was like a wet tissue and pierced my ear. The needle going through didn't hurt that much which surprised me since I read that it is usually a very painful piercing. It hurt no more than my lobes which I had gunned when I was 13. I was warned that it might hurt when the jewellery went through but that didn't hurt that much either and he got it through straight away.
After this, I was quite dazed. I just paid and went. I don't know if they were expecting me to buy aftercare but anyway I didn't though I did later buy some solution from Claire's Accessories which had the same main ingredient as what they had suggested.
When I got home no one noticed for two days but then my mum noticed and got really mad but I've got used to it by now so it didn't seem to matter. Anyway, I've continued the aftercare and all is well. It was a bit bruised and swollen at first but not too noticeably but it's fine now. The salt soaks helped. I didn't start doing them straight away but once I did, I noticed a difference. I'm currently looking forward to going up a gauge once it's healed and I'm considering another piercing. My parents are ok with the anti-tragus now although they've said that I'm allowed no more piercings but I might anyway. With how they reacted, unfortunately wrists are out of the question so it'll probably be another ear piercing. Rook or snug maybe.
It was definitely worth it. I love my piercing to death and even if I find that it won't stretch or something, I'll still live with it. Unfortunately, my friends don't understand the excitement of it but they never do unless they were to get it done and then it's the greatest thing ever but I don't mind. It makes me happy and that's what it's always been about for me.
