My orbital. If you would have asked me about it when I got it done, if I liked it or not, I would have said "Ask me in a week."

I had originally wanted my rook done in both ears. I already have the traditional two ear piercing, and the unusual tragus on both sides. I felt the itch for more, of course, as most pierced people do. I had my cartlidge pierced on one side (with a gun) when I was 13. After almost 8 months of it never healing right, and constant pain with bleeding still included, I had taken it out. It still never healed right; I had a bump and a little green dot where it had been gunned. So I was always hesitant about ever getting it done again.

So I searched for information on the rook piercing. I read stories, looked at pictures, and thought long and hard about it. I had seen the orbital piercing but never thought it was that complicated. At one point I looked at my ears trying to imagine the rook. Then realized it would look completely lopsided.

I would have the tragus and rook but nothing on my upper outer cartridge. Sooooo I immediately lost interest in the rook and became intrigued with the orbital. I tried to think back to see if I had ever seen anyone with it. Nope. No one. Plenty of people had one or two hoops on each ear. Normal and cute. But not bizarre enough for me.

I printed two pictures from BME to show my piercer what I wanted. I took it too him. He at first was confused when I tried to explain it too him before I showed him the pictures. Once I showed him, he did the "oh yaaaah" thing. Sooo, he mentioned the best thing to do was to pierce both holes on each ear and put two hoops so they could heal first. Then I could come back in a month and he would move one over to make one hoop through both cartlidge holes.

I was in no way nervous. After all I had already been pierced 8 times. What was another four in one night? He told me he would be able to go ahead and do the whole Orbital instead of waiting a month for them to heal. So he went to work. (by the way, this guy is awesome) I think I was too relaxed or something b/c the piercing part really did hurt like hell.

He pierced the first hole on each ear and put the hoop in. He then went back to the first ear to pierce the second hole. OW!! OMG!!! Then he had to move the one hoop that was already in hole # 1 into hole # 2. I closed my eyes and just breathed deeply. He had to fold my ear (with fresh holes) he had to keep spreading the hoop and squeezing it back together. Let me tell you, it hurt. LIKE HELL!!! I will not lie. I hate to say it.

This process took a long time, only one ear bleed a teeny bit for a second. But it was just lots of pulling pain. I hadn't even researched this piercing. I just printed the picture and went. I didn't even try to look up stories on BME about it. (which later I did and found very few, most which didn't have pain) But this being my experience. I didn't want to leave out that sometimes this stuff really hurts.

I came out of the little room, thanked Dwayne thousands of times. I was just way too glad to be out of there. It hurt. I say, ask me in a week, b/c for the first week I was regretting it. But I was determined to keep this. I have already had lots of comments on it. Which I find weird since I think the tragus is weirder looking. Now it is a week and a half later. I can still barely sleep on my sides, only my back. But I still think it was worth it. The compliments are what made me decide it was worth it.

Yes it still hurts some, yes it is a lot of work to keep up with, but that won't last forever. It's cute and NO ONE else has it. Around here anyway!! J I suggest if you are thinking about doing it, of course go for it. I didn't think it was any different from any other piercing on your ear. But from all the different people complimenting it makes me glad I did. The other stories I read on BME, after I got it done, said it didn't hurt. There was only pressure and what not. But I don't want to lie to you, my experience hurt. I am still not sure why the actual piercing part hurt. But please GO FOR IT. A week and a half later, I am loving it!!!
