So about a week ago I decided I needed to get poked again. I already have a rook, a conch, 2 helixes, and 7 lobes, but is that enough? I think not. Well I had been TRYING to get pierced for a while, but I was warned against a vertical tragus for fear that it would grow out, and then I was warned against a snug for some reason. I decided I'd try my luck anyway and go down to La'Rox again. I went in with intentions of getting a snug because the other piercer at La'Rox (Kris) said he could do it on me, but I had my heart (and my ear) set on a vertical tragus. I asked, and he told me that he could do one on me but that he'd do it through the cartilage so it wouldn't grow out as long as he could do it with a CBR. He said the owner of the shop was a little upset when he pierced a vertical tragus with a curved barbell. OK then. I had brought my boyfriend Craig with me, and he was shocked when I decided to do the tragus because he had thought I was in for the snug.

So I filled that out and then I picked out an 18 gauge CBR and paid for the piercing. The total was about $37. Craig and I chatted with the guy at the desk, who was super nice. Next thing I knew Kris was leading me to the room, and Craig followed. I'd seen Kris pierce my friend before, but this was my first time getting done by him, so I was kinda nervous. He's super friendly and super talkative. He's only 18 (don't let that scare you!!!) so it was kinda cool because he tried to get my mind off the piercing because I was super nervous. He talked and talked about nonsense and made me laugh a lot. He saw the CBR I had picked and decided he wanted a bigger ring, so he ran off to get a different one. He told me this was only his second vertical tragus, and that he wanted to try to clamp me. He put the clamp on and said that he knew that would make it easier. He had me lay down because it was easier for him to do. I grabbed Craig's hand, closed my eyes, and took a deep breath. Kris told me to start breathing out and then he started. The needle went in, and it didn't hurt too bad. Kris stopped shoving and walked away. I asked Craig if the needle was all the way through, and he said Kris would tell me. He also asked me to let go of his hand because I almost broke it. WHOOPS! Sorry but it hurt! Kris came back over and started shoving more. Ok now it hurt. It surprised me when he came back over and started shoving more because I thought I was all done. All in all the piercing took about 3 minutes. He ended up having to cork the piercing so he could shove the needle through. I was bleeding everywhere and I could feel it trickle into my ear, EW! He put the jewelry in and I sat up. I looked in the mirror and fell in love. It looks so cool! Kris was so very exciting, claiming to have a huge boner, yikes! He said he even hit his marks perfectly. Craig looked at me and asked how bad it hurt. Of course I said it hur t like a mo fuckie, but that it was worth it. He said it looked like it hurt really bad. I left Kris a tip, thanked him, and went out into the lobby. He took my picture for his wall, and we left.
So yes, the piercing hurt. My ear throbbed for the rest of the night, and it sucked pretty bad. But no I wouldn't have given this experience up. It's a really unique piercing and I highly recommend it. It's still kinda sore, and my tragus is a little swollen. I've been cleaning it with a half water/half ear care solution mixture and it seems to be healing fine. If you're in the area, go to Kris at La'Rox in Akron, he's super experienced and he can give you any piercing you've ever wanted!!! And just as a warning, make SURE you get it done through the cartilage. If you get it on the surface of your tragus, the little thing will almost definitely grow out, and we wouldn't want to lose such a cool piercing!!!! If you guys have any questions about this piercing, or any ear piercing for that matter, go ahead and e-mail me, I'd love to hear from you!
