Well, the basic idea of getting this piercing started with my new found favourite website, BME. After stumbling upon this website seeking advice for my fleshys, which are now sadly gone due to school, I discovered the original piercing I wanted for myself. As i'm a big fan of individuality and have not spyed this piercing on anyone else, I decided that I'd get it eventually, which happened this very day.

I went down to Puncture yesterday to scope out the details and to hopefully get it done, but they were pretty busy and Karl, the owner, told me it'd take about 30 mins to suss my ear out, get measurements etc to make it precise so I came back today. I was relieved because I nearly vomited with nervousness just because of the anticipation of getting it done! After arriving 2 hours prior to my schedueled appointment today, Karl measured my ear lobe and found me some clear domes because I go to a crappy, tight private school that doesn't allow visable piercings.) we got it sussed and started to sterilise them. While sterilising my 14 gauge bar and clear domes, Karl eats his lunch while my friend and I check out the large range of jewellery in the shop. (Might as well give the shop a plug because they did such a good job.) He tells us stories of Anemic people he's pierced and on girl who bled for 16 hours after getting her belly button done was entertaining and it shows that Kar l knows what he's doing.

Finally, an hour later Karl tells me he's ready to do it. So I go sit in the chair while my needle obsessive friend watches Karl set up and prep my ear. I'm shaking but not from nervousness like the previous day, (I was so over waiting to be honest, I couldnt be fucked to be nervous like the previous day, but the poor guy hadnt had lunch so I gave him a chance cause he is a champ and really nice) from the air conditioning and as I see Karl out of the corner of my eye grap the needle, I see my friend edge away from my hand and pull her back to hold my hand, (so i'm a bit soft, get over it.) and I start squeezing before the needle even touches my ear, I realise how dumb this is and let go.

I think the funnest bit, looking back on it was the first penetration of the cartliage, it sounds cool, hurts a tiny bit but sounds cool. So the needle is in the cartliage at the top of my lobe and I'm pretty excited because it's my first needle piercing, but too stunned and waiting for the next bit of needle to creep through so slowly. As it is such a technical piercing and requires precision, the actual procedure is quite slow for piercing, ranging about a minute because of the acuratness needed for the needle to go through, hence the 30 mins needed to suss out your ear, unless you would like a needle throught the back of you ear (which I thought about several times throughout the piercing.) So Karl edges the needle slowly bit by bit so he doesn't pierce it incorrectly, and in no time it's through. The lobe bit slid through easily but for saftey he had to keep checking it to see that it was on the right angle. Mine is about on a 50 degree angle and it looks fucking sweet. I didn't want to get it completely vertical as I plan on getting my fleshys again and to wear earrings and I dont reckon it looks as effective.

My lobe starts to swell and as the needle is pulled out, blood starts to come out but is cleaned up and my 14 gauge bar with clear balls is inserted. My friend is jumping up and down going 'oh man that looks soooo sick' because she was more excited than I was. Karl gave me free aftercare and tips for caring and we talked a bit about Todd Bertrang and the troubles he's caused, tattoos and other stuff. Karl knows his stuff.

Now that I'm at home it doesn't really hurt just the throbbing which is standard with any piercing and the cartliage hurts a bit but nothing I wont sleep over. It takes about 4-6 months to fully heal because of the cartliage and connecting tissue from the lobe but thats the same as a standard cartliage piercing anyway so it's no big deal.

Anyway, bottom line - hurts a bit, looks sick, swells a bit, looks sick. I don't recommend it because I want to be original but if you don't live on the Sunshine Coast or plan moving to the Coast it's alright then, go for it!
