I have been itching for another piercing for quite some time, with 13 piercings already, I figured why not make it an even number? I had previously researched inner conch experiences, and was quite horrified to hear how much it hurt. So many people said they bled, and that it was the most painful piercing they had. So I put it off for a few months. Then on Saturday afternoon, I called one of the local piercing/tattoos places, where I had previous work done. They gave me the price and said that there would definitely be a piercer there when I arrived around 7pm.

So after I got off work, I grabbed a friend and headed to the studio. Unlike some places I've seen, this shop is very clean. I had my tongue piercing done there previously and was very satisfied with the service. The shop doesn't take appointments for piercings, so when we got there we had to wait. There were four other girls in front of me. I got there and explained that I had called earlier, and the piercer handed me the paperwork, and asked for my ID. While I filled out the paperwork, and he photocopied my ID, a couple came in with their son. Turned out that their son was only 13 and they were willing to sign for him to get a tattoo. I was absolutely shocked...who in the world would let their kid get a tattoo when they are only 13!?. Brendan began talking and explaining to the couple that they could go to a different shop and try to get it done, but they wouldn't do it there. The couple got mad and started saying that they went to another shop (name withheld) and that shop had agreed to do the tattoo. After a few minutes of arguing, the couple finally left.

In disbelief, we all joked about it after the couple left. Brendan told me that he would be ready in a few minutes. We chatted for a little bit, while he sat there and ate his Cheeto's and Gatorade. Then he took me back to the room, and sat me in the chair, and raised me up. He thoroughly cleaned the area, and his hands, while I was sitting there, and told me everything he was doing. He pulled out a few choices of jewelry for me, and I picked out one I liked, along with his recommendation of what was best for my ear. I ended up choosing a 14g CBR.

After putting gloves on, he pulled out the sterilized package of piercing tools, and opened it in front of me. I always get really nervous before I get pierced. After cleaning my ear, he marked my ear, and made sure that's where I wanted it done. He handed me a mirror so I could check it. It was a little off, so he remarked it, and I was satisfied. He could tell I was nervous, so while he was getting things ready, he asked me about college and where I was from, the normal small talk. He told me to slowly breath in through my nose and let it out through my mouth. He told me that when I was ready, take a deep breath in, and when I let it out, he would pierce me then.

So I took a deep breath, and when I let it out he pierced me. It wasn't nearly as painful as I thought it was going to be. When the needle went through, I felt a pinch, and heard that cartilage pop. He left the needle in my ear while he prepared the CBR. He lubed up the ring and slid the ring through. I barely felt it. After closing the ring with the bead in, he cleaned my ear up to get all the lube off. While he cleaned me up he explained to me the proper care of my new inner conch piercing. He told me to make sure to clean it, and to let it soak for a few minutes when I was in the shower.

Unlike all the other experiences I read I didn't bleed at all, and would highly recommend this piercing to anyone who wants to get it. Although pain is different for everyone, I don't have an extremely high tolerance for pain, and didn't think this piercing was all that painful. The whole process took about 30 minutes, from beginning to end. I went out to pay, and looked through some tattoo books while I waited for my payment to be processed. I signed, thanked him, and was on my way.

Once I got back to school, I couldn't stop looking at my new piercing. I loved the way it complemented the others I had in my ear, and it just looked perfect sitting there. Sleeping presented a bit of a problem, since I got pierced on the side I normally sleep on. I managed to sleep on the opposite side for the night. Although my piercing is only a day old now, I love it, and don't regret it at all. I would highly recommend this piercing to anyone who is thinking about getting it!
