First let me start off with a little summary. When I found this site a few years ago, I wasn't as into all the different piercings and body modifications as I am now. A lot of the stuff I saw and then responded with, "Eww, I'd never get that done." The last thing I ever thought I'd want would be a tattoo but shortly after finding the site I decided that a tattoo would be a great way to express myself. Because of all the problems I've had with my (gun) pierced ears, I thought I would just leave my ears alone.

So in October I turned 18 and was so happy, now I could get my tattoo! I knew exactly what I wanted - an angel playing the violin on my ankle. I had everything picked out, I just needed someone to draw it. In November I went in to a tattoo place near my house and the guy there was quite rude to me; he acted like I didn't know what I was talking about (keep in mind I look like I'm about 13 or I'm told that by many people.) I also thought he was trying to charge me way too much and that I would look somewhere else first, so I left. And at school I had also found out that there would be a blood drive in January so I decided I didn't want to get the tattoo until after the blood drive so I could still give blood.

Finally, I started to think about piercings. I had seen rooks, daiths, etc. here on BME and read many experiences. But I had kept telling myself, "Forget it, these are complicated piercings and if I have problems with a simple cartilage piercing how will I ever heal something other than that?" So I waited up until today, which is my last day of school and I don't go back until January 6th so I figured that'd be a good healing time (I take swim in school and didn't want to get pierced and then swim immediately after.)

So today when I got home from school I kept to my word and said to my sister, "Let's go!" We walked to Abbyss, where I had called yesterday to find out how much a daith costs and they said $30, and the people were so nice! Well actually I only talked to one and that was Mark who pierced me, but he was a really nice guy. I was a little worried when he said, "I haven't done one of these in about 4 years." But I figured if he'd been there that long then he should be able to do it.

After I filled out the form, I sat down in the famous dentist-type chair that I've heard so much about and he got everything ready. I told him I wanted a CBR and picked the bigger one that he showed me. He changed his gloves many times and everything was removed from sealed packaging. At first when he marked it, he had it by my rook! That kind of freaked me out when he said, "How's that?" And I asked him, "Isn't it supposed to be more here?" and pointed. Then he said, "Oh yes, I'm sorry!" But I suppose that was partly my fault because I didn't point so good when he asked how I wanted it positioned but yeah.. continuing on..

He marked it in the right place and then told me to turn my head to the right since I was having my left ear done. I didn't know he was about to pierce it at that moment, although I don't know what else he'd be doing. So he told me that he wouldn't lie, that it would probably be pretty painful; he said to take a big breath and then breathe out and then he shoved in the needle. At first I didn't feel much. But as he pushed again and again, I began to feel it and it's hard to explain how it felt. He asked how I was doing and I said okay. He pushed once or twice more and then it was through. I heard a few crunching noises as it went through also, but there wasn't any bleeding. Afterwards he asked, "So how was that?" And I didn't really say much. I was thinking, "Is he done already?" It did hurt quite a bit, but not like I'd read from many experiences.

Online it seems either it hurts like hell or it's not a big deal at all. To me, I'd say it was between those two. I did begin to slide down in the chair a little after about two pushes of the needle, but when he said that taking out the needle and putting in the ring would hurt a little I barely noticed that. Putting on the little bead was troublesome for him also, but it didn't hurt me like many people say it hurts them. Then he said since it turned out so well, that he would like to take some pictures for his portfolio and of course I said yes.

I gave him the $30 and a $5 tip. I thanked him many times and said I was sure I'd be back. He thanked me also and I was on my merry way. Walking home I barely felt a thing and now it's just stinging a little bit but it looks great. When I've had my cartilage pierced with a gun my ears have been red for hours after but my sister said it looks like I've had my daith done for awhile already.

Hopefully it will heal well and it won't act up like my cartilage has acted up. I'm thinking about getting a conch piercing next or maybe a rook.. I want to see how this one heals first and if it goes well then most likely you'll see me back with a new experience. Thanks for reading and send me an email if you have any questions. I love emails. =)
