This story starts about a week ago. First off I lost my only plug for the 4g hole in my left ear. So I thought I would attempt to make some temporary jewelry. I got a q-tip and covered it in lots and lots of electrical tape. I ended up with a plug a little bit bigger then 4g, and not too shabby looking. With some lube I managed to get it in nice and snug.

The next day I thought it was feeling a little tight, and it was a little red, so I thought I'd pop it out while I was in the shower. I did this then took a look in the mirror. My nicely healed 4g hole was now a bloody, puss infested wound. My ear had clamped down and created an indent in the homemade plug. This then somehow wore down the skin in the period of one day. I figured I better get some new jewelry. Considering I had finished Christmas shopping, and had a pay cheque coming in a few days I decided I'd get my empty right lobe pierced as well. I was thinking something along the lines of a 2g or 0g tunnel. I IM'd Jody, a local piercer at Anatomic Adornments, and the one who pierced me at a flesh pull earlier in the year. She informed me that to get pierced at 2 or 0 gauge would mean scalpelling. I thought this over and decided to go for it. I called the studio and made an appointment and found out that Syx would be the one doing the scalpelling.

At this time the festering hole in my left ear was doing alright, I'd keep a q-tip in it to keep the hole from shrinking. I'd change it a few times a day because the q-tips were absorbing all the blood and puss. However it never got any better.

So the time came for my appointment. I headed down to the studio and was greeted by Jody and Syx. Syx readied the room while I paid. We decided to stretch the hole in my left ear to either a 2g or 0g, depending on how irritated it was. Once I was in the piercing room Syx took a look at my left ear. He agreed with me that it was disgusting, so he only stretched it up to 2g. It was the first time I was professionally stretched, and it felt great. The taper went in nice and easy. Syx then compared both ears and tried to mark the right one up so that it would be symmetrical with left one. He thought my left ear piercing might be too close to my head, and that if he couldn't scalpel my right one to match he'd have to scalpel the left one as well to move it out. So he marked my left ear, and then called in Jody. They both stared at me quite a bit, and then agreed that it looked great. I took a look in a hand mirror and agreed that it looked good. Syx then cleaned my ear, explaine d the procedure, and got everything ready. He told me that after he scalpelled my ear and was inserting the taper, that I should tell him if it gets too tight. Then he would have to back the taper out and cut some more. Jody, being the wonderful person that she is offered to take pictures of the procedure. I agreed. Syx clamped my ear, and told me that on the exhale of the second breath he would cut me. First breath, in, out. Second breath, in, out, cut. I felt the scalpel pierce through my ear, and then I felt it kind of sawing. It really didn't hurt much at all. Nothing what I expected. He then inserted the taper, and the 0g tunnel fit in perfectly. No tightness at all. I started to feel something on the back of my neck, and it took me a second to realize it was blood. Syx caught the blood and swabbed up what had pooled in my ear. He then told me it might be better to put in a 00g tunnel, as my ear was still bleeding a bit after a little while. I didn't see this as being a problem, so I agreed. He then removed the 0g tunnel and tapered me u p to 00g. It fit better, and helped stop the bleeding. He then praised himself on a beautifully symmetrical job. Then Jody praised him as well. Everything looked good, and the left ear wouldn't need to be scalpelled. I took a look in the mirror and loved it. It looked great. After all this was done Syx commented on my industrial, and that it was digging in to my ear a bit. I told him that it had been doing this for that past month or so. So he popped it out, bent it a bit, and put it back in. I was amazed. I got my festering hole fixed up, an awesome hole made in my right ear, and my industrial fixed.

Syx gave me his card and told me to call him in a couple of days and let him know how it was going. Just make sure it was healing fine. Overall the experience was great. I ended up with everything I wanted. The atmosphere was professional, and everything was sterile. I lost count of the glove changes after 8. Now I'm going to go soak it with the lovely salt they gave me.
