Hi everyone, Im Jess and this is my story. I was wondering around BME and I found the vertical tragus and I "fell in love" with it. So Im only 15 and I began asking my mom, she wasn't against it but she knew my dad would be. I didn't understand why because she let me do other various piercing and I didn't see why my ear was different. She pointed out that when I got my eyebrow, I promised no more piercings. Well I honestly didn't know she meant I couldn't ever pierce my ears! Alas I left it but didn't forget it.

A few weeks later came Halloween, fun in the first place, but even better when you convince your two friends to pierce thier belly buttons at the same place you went. Then it popped into my head and I wanted to get pierced also. So we get ready to go and I forget...I need to ask my mom, one: Im broke, two: Im underage.

Sigh, I call and ask to borrow money from my savings account, and she totally agrees!!I wanted a number of piercings(rook, v.tragus, and 3rd holes) so I still wasn't decided.

We left with one mom in toe, we drive to Top Notch. Its the only place I will get pierced and they are one of the top piercing studios in Northern Chicago. I decided on the coolest piercing, my beloved vertical tragus, but I had always wanted it in front if my tragus....kind of like a surface piercing. First thing Dras, my piercer says is "whoa, you brought a lot of people", I had about 8 with me. I ask Dras if he's ever done a vertical tragus and he said he hadn't :(

BUT he said "No big deal, I can do anything." I belive him and trust him with my life, so I was fine with it.

I hold hands as my friends are pierced and play it cool with my growing nervousness. I grab some water to get rid of my cotton-mouth, and Im ready for my 7th piercing. When my friends are cleaned up, I sit down and realize my spiky hair is going to get in the way, o well it's worth it. I ask a lot of questions. Stupid ones like, " Are you sure you can do this?" and, "What gauge should we do?"

I make sure my friends are digging all 19 nails into my arm( my weird way of getting rid of pain)and Dras is ready. Here comes the needle, and Im thinking, okay normal pinch of first hole...oh my god!! I felt the needle rip through every layer of my skin until the worst part, the needle popping out. Pop. Im done I got it done!! Wait, the jewelry, this hurt the worst but I grin and bare it. It was a very slow piercing, maybe because he had never done it before. As Dras twists the balls on I asked how much 3rd holes would be, he says "$20" and I said all I had was $40, because my friends had said all piercings were $40. Dras comes through for me yet again and says "It's okay but tell your friends it cost $70(because of the small barbell)."

I got up a little dizzy and my spikes sprang back to life. All was well, and I was the only girl in town with a vertical tragus! Doing it without my mom was great and I felt totally independent, though I do have to hide it from my dad. My mom ended up telling him in a few days and he could care less. Why do I waste my time asking?

So far I've had no problems and little puss, I did have a headache for a few days, yes days. Everyone who sees it thinks it amazing(but I tell them they can't copy me), some piercing virgins think it's two piercings, I don't know why(laugh). I love it and it's my favorite. I really think you should only get this piercing if you can tolerate pain, all I ask is that you don't make it too trendy. It is hard to find jewelry also. I am afraid it will migrate though, since it did happen to my ears when I was about 6. Im gauging those ears now and there has been no problems. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

As far as future plans I still want that rook and 3rd holes(to make orbitals) and I am going to continue gauging my ears! After that who knows!! Wish me luck. Thank you for taking your time and reading my boring story and thank you BME for all the help. If it wasn't for you guys I wouldn't know anything. Email me with any sort of questions, talking about it is great fun! Thanks again.
