I am 19, and have been into piercing for a few years now. Currently I have dermal punched inner conch orbitals (which I am writing about now), lobes, tongue, nipples, eyebrows, and labret, and have plans for much more. Anyhow, on with the experience.
So I was at my local shop hanging out, as I always did when I was bored, and I was looking through my pierces portfolio for like the 30th time. And I had come to the conclusion that I needed something new in my ears, instead of these plugs. So I asked him what he thought of a few ideas, yes I know it's not what he wants etc. But I couldn't think of anything. So I asked him to think up something kind of rare. He said ok, he would see what he could think of when he went home, and we would do something the next day. So we talked some more, and I decided to go get a bite to eat, and told him I would be in tomorrow.
The next day I picked my girlfriend up, and we headed off to the shop. We went in and it was not too busy. So we sat and shot the shit for a bit. She asked him some questions about her piercing etc. Then I asked him what he had though of to do, and he just got a smirk. He examined my ears some from where he was sitting, just to see if what he had thought of would work. Then he jokingly said "Well it involves some scalpels, dermal punches, tapers and a lot of blood." He kind of tripped me out for a minute, then he started laughing so I felt a little bit better.
He went into his "office" and started preparing the tool etc. I went in to talk to him while he was doing that, and went to look at what he was messing with, he messed around and blocked me off so where I couldn't see over his shoulder. So I went back out and checked out the jewelry and what not. When he was all done, he called me in. I sat down and he explained the idea. During the explanation I noticed the dermal punch sitting on the counter. I guess he wasn't joking all that much. The plan was to run an 8ga. CBR though my plug into my conch, in both ears. Sounded good to me. Time to get started.
He started cleaning my ear. Then he marked it and took my plug out so it would be a bit easier to work with. Then he had me check it out in the mirror to make sure I liked the placing etc. Then he started getting the tools. He had a nice big receiving tube, the punch, and some tongue depressors that were taped together.
First hole. He had me do the regular breathing exercises, in through nose, out through mouth slowly etc. Then on the third exhale, he pushed the punch through. Not as bad as I thought. He took the punch out, then I felt a trickle of blood run down my ear. He then put my plug back in and ran the CBR through the new hole in the conch. Usually the jewelry transfer sucks, but not when it's dermal punched. Then it was time to try and get the ball in. That didn't work out so well. So he flipped the CBR up out of the way to check things out and get a better look. Then he got another one of his smirks. I could only imagine what he was thinking. Then I realized what he had done. So he asked me if I would rather have a orbital, I said sure. So marked where the CBR met my ear.
Second hole. Again the breathing exercises. Third exhale he pushed the punch through. This one hurt, well a lot more! I let out a few grunts. Again came the blood. He put the jewelry through both holes and made it so the ball was in back. Put the ball in. Now we were finished with the one. I started to get a little hot, and my girlfriend said I was looking a little pail as well. So I decided to squeeze a smoke in real quick, as he cleaned up and prepped for the other one.
Third hole. Again he cleaned the ear and marked it. Breathing exercises again. Third exhale he pushed the punch through. This one hurt just a little bit. Not as bad as the second one. Then he flipped the CBR up and marked for the fourth hole. By this time I think he had gone through a whole box of gloves, and a fair amount of gauze. Then he showed me the chunk of my ear that was still in the punch. Usually I don't get grossed out by blood and guts etc, but this time, a felt my stomach get a bit uneasy. Then came the hotness again. So he turned that fan on, and got me some water to drink. I also got one of these wafer things he had, so I could get some sugar in my system.
Fourth hole. I started feeling better. So he marked the fourth hole. This time the tattoo artist came in to check out what was going on. He said something to Leon, the piercer, about does the punch ever like hit the receiving tube. Leon said not usually, as long as you have everything lined up right etc. So we got started on the piercing. Breathing exercises etc. Started to push the punch , and as luck would have it, bounce off the receiving tube. Yeah, it hurt a little. Then he looked at the hole making sure it was all good still, it was. So he flipped the CBR up, and pushed it through the hole. Then put the ball on, and cleaned it up a bit.
I sat there for a little bit, just to make sure everything was ok. Had another glass of water. When I felt I was good enough to, I stood up, and walked around the corner to the mirror and checked my new babies out. They were awesome! I went up to the counter and talked for a bit, then asked how much. Paid. The he asked me to come back after I got all cleaned up, so he could take some pictures. So I said O.K. We left and went to McDonalds afterwards just to get a little more food in me. Got home and cleaned up. Went back to the shop and got the pictures done.
I have had them now for about 6 months, and they have healed quite well. When I first got them I was doing sea salt soaks, and using Provon to clean them. About a month or two ago, I noticed like a little blood blister forming, and decided to pop it. Hasn't returned since, and there have been no other complications, other than sleeping on the sometimes is a pain. Literally.
The End.
