Note: The person who performed this procedure wishes to remain unnamed. Thus I will not mention the city, shop, or name or the piercer. I will refer to the piercer as John. That is not however his or her name.
At A Glance Author Bryan Contact Bryan@bme.anon IAM Bryan When It just happened Artist Anonymous Studio Anonymous Location Anonymous Right now my ears are a little sore. This is due to the fact they had just been Scalpeled. But let's go to the beginning of this story.
I'd been interested in getting this particular modification for a few months and when I found out I was going out of town, I decided to investigate piercing places in the city I was going to. I sent messages to many members of BME's online community, and the vast majority of them recommended John. I phoned John about a week and a half before I was going down, to talk and make an appointment, however John's shop takes walk-ins only and he wanted to talk to be before he'd do my ears.
Fast Forward a week and a half, and I have arrived in town, first stop John's shop. When I arrived at John was in a piercing, and I had a talk with other people waiting. When it was my turn, John and I had a talk. He made sure I knew this was completely permanent, and we went over many other details, such as the fact that it would bleed a fair amount. John expects me to keep in touch during the healing so he knows how everything is going. I told him I wanted to get it done this weekend and he said to come in on Saturday afternoon. I asked if we could go over aftercare tonight. He told me for the first 2-3 days to just use Saline to rinse it down. After that I could do warm sea salt soaks 2 or 3 times a day, and once a day wash it with a natural lavender soap. After washing with the soap make sure to completely rinse away any trace of the soap with saline. So I went to my Grandmother's house (wear I was staying), to have a good sleep to be prepared for the procedure tomorrow.
On Saturday morning I had a nice breakfast and hung out with family for a bit, then off to John's shop to get my ears done. I stopped by a corner store to pick up some Juice. I arrived to find John unoccupied, so we were ready to go. He asked if I had any final question, which I didn't, we had covered it all earlier. We went into the room where piercings took place. John prepared all the equipment, changing gloves often. He pulled out a taper and I made a comment it was big, so he pulled out a 1.5 inch taper, and said no this is big. Once everything was ready he cleaned and marked my ears. The incision would be high up, so I could stretch in the future if I wanted to. The jewellery used would be plain glass, 7/16 of an inch, double flared to ½ inch.
John asked be to lie down and breath deep, in thru the nose, out thru the mouth. Once in to my "Buddha" breathing (as like to call it), John began, I couldn't really tell what was going on. Whenever my breathing wasn't good, John would breath like I should be, which helped a lot. He was done my left lobe in less then one minute. Cleaning the blood took several minutes however. The right lobe took longer however as it required John to work hand over hand. This time I could tell as he slides the taper thru and inserted the plug. There was a bit of pseudo-blowout, which John removed with his scalpel. Then John continued to clean the blood up.
John sprayed my ears with saline, which felt good, and continued to clean for a bit dapping with sterile gauze. That part was uncomfortable. Now it was all done!
I went out and paid, as well as buying the natural lavender soap, and I left a tip (always tip your piercer or tattoo artist if you like the job they did). I hung around for a bit, chatting with John about various things, while waiting for my ride. When my ride arrived I thanked John and said goodbye. When I met up with my family my uncle said he liked how the jewellery matched my hair (which is dyed dark red), I said that's form the blood, that the jewellery is clear.
It's two days later now and my lobes are still a bit sore and swollen, my friend whacked one my mistake but it's still doing pretty good, all the bleeding has stopped now and I feel that my lobes will heal great. So far I've just been using Saline, but I'll start with the soap in a few days.
