Hi, I'm Kate and I have a total of 14 piercings on my ears. My left ear has 4 lobe, 1-14g cartilage, and a 16g upper cartilage. My right ear has 3 lobe piercings, 1 middle cartilage, 2 upper cartilage, a tragus and.... One on the way.

I was at La'Rox about a month ago, and was watching my best friend Kara get another Tigger tat on her lower back, and decided I needed to do something. I had that.. itch. You know? The 'I need to change.. Right. Now.' Feeling... I get it often, but usually don't act upon it. I actually have it right now, but I am so very poor, its not funny.. Anyway, I popped out of Josh's (He is the *best* tat artist in Akron, in my opinion. He did the cross on my upper back and it ROCKS.) tattoo room and went to the counter and was all "I need my rook pierced!" The chick at the front counter was friendly, as usual, and I filled out all that paper work and they got my license for my age verification, even though i've had 4 things pierced since I was 18. I'm beginning to feel.. like I need to get it over with.. now.

I was asked if I needed the Cleaning Solution, and I always say no, because I use Antibacterial soap and witch hazel twice a day, and have never had a problem with any of my piercings. I usually get bitchy when I'm nervous, but seemed to be Ok that day, since it was so last minute. (I'm sure that was a relief to all the clerks there, and I if they read this, its that damn asst. manager with the attitude who bothers me!)

Now it is time to pick out jewelry. I had gotten my tragus done there in November with 14k, and had *awesome* luck with it, but was sort of poor that day, and just decided on a blue titanium CBR, with a little blue bead/stone. I paid the $25.00 piercing fee, and for my 8 buck CBR, 1 dollar bead, and I was ready to go. Finally. At this point I'm feeling more nervous, but since I have an extremely high tolerance for pain, I know I'll be Ok...

Now it was time to wait. And wait. And wait. So I wait with Kara while she is getting tattooed, and then they come and get me. And since she *always* holds my hand, and obviously could not, so I had this random guy named David hold them. We knew him and all, it's just he wasn't a close friend. So, my piercer Dave told me all the normal things and I asked if it would hurt and he always says "No.". So they do all the normal things, like putting on gloves and cleaning and marking and dotting, and he asks my if I like the dot. And I do, it's a fine dot.. I then ask him if he would ever actually move the dot if someone doesn't like it. He replies "No, because I know better then they do." Dave's funny.

So I sit there, waiting.. And he says he is going to count, and I'm all "No! Just DO it!" and he says "Ready?" "Yes. Go." So you feel a little pinch, and some pressure, much like that feeling when your ears are going to pop and they haven't yet. David, the pal who was holding my hands, had this horrified, disgusted, look on his face like he might vomit, but he is a total freak, because it looks awesome and it didn't even hurt! As soon as he put the 16g CBR in, what little pain I felt was gone, and then the bead goes in and its done. No blood, nothing. I get to see my rook piercing and i love it, and i tip Dave and go back to the tattoo room to show Kara who thinks it looks "Painful.. but cool."

I get some stares now and then and as usual the little kids who come up and asks if it hurt. And the looks from my grandmother who thinks I just might be insane. And the people down at this church in Georgia who might want to burn me at a stake in the middle of the sanctuary, because I am going to hell for 'all those devil piercings!'... Also, to the people who ask me at work if I plan to take them out before I 'get old and regret them!' Shut. Up. And have a nice day!

But seriously, for anyone who is at all nervous, even with teeny-tiny butterflies in their tummy, about getting it done, do not fear, all you need is someone to hold your hand, and some Antibacterial Soap.

Join me next month, as I'm planning on getting either my conch pierced, or.. my other tragus? Maybe? Any suggestions can be e-mailed to me! Please! I'll read them all!
