For the past few months I have been getting itchy to be 18. My parents always told me if it was not in my ears then I wasn't getting any peircings until I was 18. I have been to BME site a millions times and i have fell in love with many of the peircings. The vertical lobe peircings really caught my eye.... especially with an orbital lobe. I started in on my mom a few months ago, and she finally agreed that as long as i paid, i could do whatever i wanted to my ears. Oh man.... that made it so hard to choose which is coming first. I babysat the other night, and had some money to spare. I know christmas was coming up and everything.... but i really wanted this done. I wanted to get a few done at once, but I figured that I would get only one. It's my body for life and I can space out the peircings.

My dad got a tattoo at New Skool, and I asked him to sign for me when he went back to get it finished. He said I could. Yesterday I went with him to the place. They made him sign the papers and I had to fill out some too. Basically discussing the liabilties and things. I forget proof of age, so i had my friend drive me home to get it. My dad left the place cuz he already did what he had to do. I go back up there. I wasn't very nervous, but once I realized he had never done this peircing before, it made me more nervous than I was. Note that despite the 7 ear peircings i already have... none have ever been quite like this, or done professionally with a needle. He talked to the tattoo guy about it and then Phil, the tattoo guy told me that it was going to hurt. I told him I pretty much already came to terms with that. lol. He looked at my ear to see if my ear was thick enough or something. I gave him my money, 50 dollars and it was back into the room we went.

I sat down in the chair. I asked him if he needed me to pull my hair back, he said yes. He had never done a vertical lobe so he wasnt exactly sure what he was going to use to do it. Free hand, or use the hemo's to clamp it. He tried using the hemo's but my ear kept folding under. So free hand it was. He told me that it would take a little longer that way. I didn't say it outloud, but christ that scared me.He marked the spots with a sharpee marker... and somehow that comforted me. I love sharpee markers... i have like 12 at home. He told me to breathe in.... breathe out... breath in ... and Crunch... rip.... rip. then the relief set in. It didnt hurt as much as I had expected it too considering it was going through alot of flesh. He threaded the barbell through and told me how to clean it.

In 4 weeks i have to go back and get the custom barbell that fits my ear. They put a slightly longer barbell in for cleaning and aftercare reasons. I liked how he was telling me what he was doing as he was doing it. I managed to have a small conversation with him while he was finishing up. I didnt even realize that I was bleeding until he told me why I was. I bled a whole lot, because they used a larger needle than the barbell size. He explained to me why, but now I dont remember. It was sore for a while, and it started to swell a little bit. I put ice on it and after a while it didn't bother me any more. I slept fine, it bled a little while I slept, but I didnt wake up to any pain. Last night before I went to bed i shoved larger gauged hoops in my other ear, and that hurt more during the night than the vertical lobe i got done. So if that helps any of you out there looking to get this done. It looks like a very painful thing, and it does not look very pretty right aw ay after its done. Unless u like the bloody look. But once its cleaned and not red or swollen anymore its very awesome. I've only had it a day now, and i haven't had any problems. I don't expect to either. In a few weeks i hope to be able to touch it without fear its going to kill me.

Now that i've had my first real peircing, and it wasnt as life-altering as i somehow thought it would be.... im definately going to go back and get more. I can only work on my ears for now. But once may hits,... i'll have better stories to talk about than my ears.
