I already have my left tragus pierced and I decided that a vertical tragus on the other ear would be really cool to have. I got the idea for this piercing off BME (Thanks!) Now that was the easy part! This is where the story starts to get long! .....
At A Glance Author xDianex Contact xinveighx@hotmail.com Artist Maxine Studio Body Poppers Location The Forum, Sheffield, UK I went to the local piercing studio where I live to ask the piercer if he could carry out this piercing. I explained to him what it was and he said that he had never even heard o this piercing before. I was totally ready for this as even on BME there is only 1 photograph of this. I asked him if he would consider doing it and he said that he wouldn't do it in case something went wrong. That was fine by me. If he didn't want to do it then I wasn't going to moan on about it to a professional! He said that the piercing would hurt so much and to go away and really think about it.
I did think about it! The pain factor didn't put me off as I seem to have a very high pain threshold! I went to another local piercing studio in Sheffield called Body Poppers where I went and talked to a piercer called Maxine.
I told her all about it and she seemed well clued up about it already! She had never carried out a vertical tragus piercing but she said that she would do it! I was really happy as I thought that I would never be able to have it done!
I went away from the studio and went on to BME again and printed off the pictures and a couple of experiences from other people who had had this piercing. I then made an appointment with Maxine. She told me to get there 30 minutes early so that she could put some numbing lotion on.
So the day arrived Saturday 10th November 2001. I arrived at the studio really looking forward to having some more metal stuck through me! Maxine looked at the photo's again and then asked me where abouts I wanted the entrance and the exit of the piercing. I marked it out and Maxine put some numbing lotion on. I had 30 minutes to spare so I went for a hot chocolate.Sugar is a good thing to have before a piercing!
By this time both my Mum and my Boyfriend were getting quite excited for me! I went back to the studio as it was time for the piercing. Maxine told me to mark the place for the piercing again to be sure it was where I wanted it. Now I was ready. Another piercer wanted to watch as she had never seen this and I said that it was cool that she watched.
Maxine got all set up. This studio is super clean and very hygienic by the way! I sat down in a very comfortable black leather chair and Maxine sprayed some really nice cold spray on my tragus she then put some tissue in my ear to stop it dripping in. I was warned before that this could take a little longer as it was a free hand piercing but that didn't bother me. I kept making jokes like 'Where's the bucket in case I puke!' But we all knew that I would be fine.
So now it was time....I felt something like a needle go in but I can't be sure as I honestly did not feel a thing. It was a weird feeling I knew something was pushing its way through my tragus but it was not accompanied by pain! Maxine asked me if I was ok and I was like 'Yeah I'm fine...I can't even feel it!' The other piercer said she felt like she was going to pass out just watching! She asked me if it hurt and I said 'It didn't hurt. Honest to God!'
The jewlery went in. It was a steel curved barbell as Maxine had to curve the bar and the needle in order for her to carry out this piercing.
A couple of photographs were taken as Maxine wanted a picture of this as she had never done one before. Maxine is the best piercer that I have ever been to. She was totally professional and confident about this piercing, and the studio is amazingly clean and sterile. I will for sure be going back to Maxine at Body Poppers as she has made this piercing dream come true with out any pain!
My Mum asked Maxine if I was putting it on about it not hurting and Maxine was like 'She didn't even flinch!' Afterwards I felt so proud as I dont know anyone who has this done at all! Maxine said that I must be the only person in Sheffield with it done!
I bathe my tragus twice a day once in the morning and last thing at night with a sea salt soak applied with a cotton bud. Inbetween this when I get a bath I gently wash it with anti-bacterial soap.
If anyone wants anymore information about this piercing or about the great piercing studio then email me. As for getting this piercing done...Just do it! (The photographs of this will be uploaded very soon!)
