Hey bme, this is the story of my BEAUTIFUL cartilage piercing and my retarded looking lobes

I would always say to my mom, "hey, why don't I get my ears pierced?" when we would pass by the Piercing Pagoda at the mall. She always blew me off and didn't take me seriously. But that changed a few weeks ago.
I had a karate test, going for the big red stripe (black is the next one up for those of you who don't follow karate), and I was incredibly nervous the day of my test. I kept pleading with my mom to let me stay home, but she kept turning me down. Finally I asked if I could get my ear pierced if I did good on my test. She said yes! Whoop-whoop! I knew she would eventually cave in.
So that I night I tried really hard on my test and I got my belt. The first thing I asked my mom that night was "WHEN CAN I GET IT DONE?" she said that she didn't know when and that it probably would be a few weeks. DAMN waiting that long was like torture!
*Flash forward about three weeks*
Ok, it's finally the day of the piercing and I'm nervous as all! But first I have to get a hair cut! The plan for that day is sometime after my haircut that my mom will take me to Anything's Possible. I get my hair cut and then in the car my mom is like- why don't we just go there right now!?! I'm like, OK THAT WOULD BE GREAT! So we drive for like 45 minutes trying to find A.P and we finally had to park the car and walk up and down Main Street to find it. Ok, I'm about to shit a brick I'm so nervous but there's no backing out now! We walk up to the counter and my mom says that I would like to get my cartilage pierced, Tim, the piercer says that it will be about a 15 minute wait because they have to autoclave the utensils. The wait seemed to take FOREVER but eventually he comes out and says that he's ready. We go back to the room, which was EXTREMELY clean, I sit down in the chair and he begins to do it. First he marks the spot, my mom approves of it, he checks it with a flashlight to make sure he won't hit a vein, and gets out the forceps which he had to use because my ear is the wrong shape for a receiving tube. He clamps down on my ear and the only thing I feel is a strong pressure! GOSH! That didn't hurt a single bit! He quickly puts in a silver cbr with a Carolina blue bead. My cartilage looks great with my 16-gauge horseshoe barbell, and it's only a tad red.
Here comes my not-so-good piercings. Me and my bud Andrew the vegan are at the local Sally Beauty supply store. He buys an 18 gauge barbell with which he plans on piercing his nose, I buy the 16 gauge silver barbell for my cartilage and a set of these things that you can pierce your ears with on your own. The next night, I wait for my parents to go to bed, and then it's piercing time! I go in the bathroom, already nervous as hell and I get out the alcohol and some paper towels. I don't even think about marking my ear which was probably not a good thing, but I wipe my ears down very good and then I'm ready to do it. I put the first piercing thing up to my ear and begin squeezing on it like you're supposed to. It doesn't pierce! I try one last time, and all of a sudden WHAM. I have my left ear lobe pierced! That was slightly painful but not bad! I do the same on my right ear. It's no big deal and it looks ok considering that I did it myself. I make it through the night but my mom flips out! She forces me to take them out. Oh well so sad, there go my plans for stretching anytime soon! Andrew also got his inner conch done! I'm so jealous of him that it is not even funny! It looks very nice for a two-day-old piercing especially with that straight 12-gauge barbell!
I only have the cartilage piercing now, but me and Andrew (who is on cool kid) plan on piercing our helixes sometime in December. Will that look ok? oh well I don't care what my parents say about it! Thanks BME!!!!!!!
