Anyhow, On my birthday I always get something done whether it is my hair dyed, or a piercing. On my 18th birthday I got my tragus pierced. That did not hurt nearly as much as my conch did. My parents are strict with piercings so that is why I get it on my birthday; it is my present to myself. They say it is only for losers but I beg to differ!!! On with my experience!
The day I turned 19 I was going to get my conch pierced. I didn't, no it is not because I chickened out. I was in a bad mood b/c that morning I failed my permit test. Who knew Route 22 was an interstate?
So the next day I went with my boyfriend and his little sister to Quillans. I heard it was a painful place but people I knew told me it was like a tragus piercing. No worries there! So, when we got there I had to wait an hour b/c the guy was getting ready to do a back piece. I said but it was my birthday yesterday! So they decided they would do me first! The guy prolly thanked me, he looked nervous! So I filled out the paper work waited for them to copy my I.D and stuff. Sterilize the barbell (Micro one not a huge one:)) In the meantime I looked at the walls. They were re-painted. Like the ocean.
Then I heard o.k. let's go yah ready? I said always! He said if yah need moral support have them follow. They did. . ."last one in please shut the door" he said and "you take a seat on the chair." I did. He then told me that the conch should be kept clean 2 twice a day and it takes 3 months to heal since it was cartilage wash the area with a anti bacterial soap salt water or any generic soap with anti bacterial label on it. In the meantime he was getting out all tools needed to puncture my ear. Then my favorite part is when he says relax. . .take a deep breath. . Push it out. Deep breathe in relax, push it out. He breathes with you too. So that was more comforting. He then cleaned the area like 3 times with all this stuff. Then with alcohol. Changed gloves 3 times. 1) After he got all the stuff. 2) After he cleaned my ear. 3) Before he pierced it. He then made the mark with the purple felt tip pen let me take a look to see if I approved. Of course I did! I couldn't wait till I saw the shiny ball over the mark!
He then positioned my head on the chair. It would have been more comfortable if my bobby pins weren't jamming into my head! I grabbed my boyfriends' hand. His sister just stood there with a blank stare. We then did Lamaze again:) He said o.k. Now I'm just gonna position the needle. I said o.k. He said o.k. now I want you to take a deep breath in through your nose and exhale. I did and I felt the needle go through. I thought hey this is like a tragus pierce----ow ow ow ow ow (hence the title) Then the pain came. I then clutched my boyfriends other hand!! I said ow ow Steve said you're doing good keep breathing. . .in....push it out. O.k. it's through. My body was tingly...head felt heavy...ear was pulsating...felt light headed now. . .then the barbell . . He said o.k. it's through now I'm gonna put the barbell in. That didn't hurt as much maybe b/c I was kinda numb. Who knows!
When everything was pierced he cleaned it once more and reminded me the proper care. My body felt numb. Like I just had the best orgasm about to pass out. We then went to the desk and I paid the 50 dollars. I thanked him. When he asked me how I felt I said blissful. He looked at me like I was a freak. Oh well!!! We left and I got outside the fresh air hit my new piercing and man did that feel good! It's been about a week or so and I can move it back and forth with no pain. I even slept on it the first night with no pain. I clean it faithfully...in the morning and at night if it feels icky in the day I just drip salt water on it. I don't want to irritate it more. The weird thing is that it hurts more after I clean it . . . So far it's doing great.
Surprisingly, my mom thinks, "it looks cool" but "(she) I would never get it done" he he This girl at my work had it and she said it didn't hurt. I said you'd be the freak who has a baby with no painkillers. She said she has a high tolerance for pain. That's obvious! Anyone who wants his or her Conch pierced go for it but be sure to bring moral support!! You'll need a hand to hold! I wanna get a tattoo next b/c my ears are how I want them. When I see them I feel pretty. I have enough holes in them. My sister makes a joke she says when I visit her in college we could use my ears to strain the pasta ha ha. But now that I got my conch done makes me think I can't survive one, a tattoo that is. .We'll find out!!! Thanks for reading this guys buh bye!!!
