I had wanted a piercing on my ear for quite some time. I wanted something more interesting than your average cartilage piercing. I had decided on either a tragus or a rook. I thought about it a long time. I finally decided on the rook. "I can always get my tragus later" I thought.

So, one evening, as soon as my mom got home from work, I bombarded her with my asking to get my rook pierced. She said yes without much of a fight. I must say, I have a cool mom. She said that she would take me that night. I was really happy since I didn't expect to go until the next night.

I called the studio, 21st century, and made an appointment for a half our later. We arrived at the studio and filled out all the crap and everything. I picked out my jewlry, a 16 gauge straight SS barbell. I chose this because, at the time, I liked the look of a barbell better than a CBR.

After a short wait I was led, along with my mom and brother, into a small room with a big docter type chair in it. The piercer said that she had to get some stuff ready so I had to sit tight for a bit. I have to say, I wasn't to nervous. I had heard that this was one of the more painfull piercings. But for some reason I was completley calm.

The piercer came in and set everything out. She told me what she was going to do and what to expect (she had her rook pierced so I believed her). She then marked the spot she was going to pierce. After that she told me to take a deep breath and when I exhaled she would pierce. I took a deep breath and just before I let it out she said " I should get a rieceving tube!". She got the tube and we were back to taking a deep breath. When I let it out I felt a quick pressure. It truly didn't hurt very bad, although out of all my piercings this was the worst. It took her a while to put in the barbell. One of the beads was being bitchy. She got it on after some frustrating slipping though.

I looked at it in the mirror. I loved it. Although it was hard to see with the barbell. She told me to rest for a second. She said I was brave for doing it and I felt good.

After that I got up. She went over all the after care and gave me a sheet of after care instructions. We then paid and thanked her and left.

It kindof hurt to sleep on for about two weeks but after that it was fine. It causes me no trouble now. Infact, I just got it tapered to a fourteen gauge today. It hurt very little. I now have a CBR in. I love my rook and I always get comments like "Christ, I didn't even know you could get that pierced!". It's funny.

I really like 21st century. They are very knowledgable and friendly. They also have a very clean studio and a vairly large selection of jewelry. I would reccomend them if you live in the Portland Oregon area.

I like this piercing very much. I am so glad that I found BME. Without it I would not know that you could get the rook pierced. Then I would be like everyone else and say "I didn't even know you could get that pierced!". I go on BME at least once a week. I always do my homework before getting a new piercing. I believe that this is the only way anyone should get pierced. DO YOUR HOMEWORK! It makes me so mad to see these stupid people that are like "Um, I want to get an earing in my belly button. Hehe.". These people don't have any idea what they are doing. I think it is your responsibility to be informed as a piercie.

I look at body piercing as an art. It is very pretty to look at. I think it should be respected as an art by all people. That includes people getting piercings. People shouldn't get piercings just because. They are to amazing to just get. I think you should get them for you. And get them only when you respect piercing as an art form. Piercing is an amazing thing in everyway. I am sad that it is SO popular. Allthough I guess it is good in some respects because it is getting the credit it deserves, and then some.

I am sorry for rambling. If you read this, thankyou.
