A little background: I wanted to get my conch pierced ever since I first saw someone with it.Being a girl who thought that getting my ear lobes pierced at the mall hurt,I thought piercing a conch would hurt like hell.I stretched my earlobes to 8ga and wanted another ear piercing to go with it.I looked on BME and read about every experience, this was not as good as an idea as I first thought since most were about the horrible pain it was to get pierced. After a lot of consideration,I decided I could handle the pain.

The process of convincing my mom was more painful then the actual piercing. She said there was no way I was going to get that done.I kept asking and finally she considered it.There was one catch though. At the time my hair was in about 4 inch dreaded spikes, which my parents hated. My mom made me the deal that if I cut my hair short and cut out the dreads, that I could get it pierced.I decided it was worth it.

About a month after I cut the dreads, she finally said she would take me to get it pierced.I called about 3 places and the cheapest was $50!I couldn't believe it would cost that much,so then i spent 2 weeks saving up money.I had been to La'Rox piercing studio before and it was clean and the people were cool there.

So a day after school I went up there expecting to cry from the pain. I filled out all the papers and picked out a 14g barbell.I had to wait about 5 min. and finally it was my time to get pierced.

I wasn't scared until I sat in the chair. The piercer finished getting stuff ready while I sat there shaking. He pointed to the spot to pierce,I ok'ed it.I took a deep breath in and out, this was the only part that hurt.It seemed to take forever for the needle to go all the way through. But as soon as it went through, there was no more pain!I didn't feel him put in the jewelry and it only bled a drop or 2.He asked me if I was ok and handed me the mirror to look. It looked great, I loved it!

This was followed by instructions about cleaning, and how not to bump it or it would bleed.I gave him a tip and was off to show everyone my new conch piercing.

This was about 2 weeks ago, the day after it ached a little and I didn't sleep on that ear for about a week.Ive been cleaning 2 times a day with the piercing solution they gave me.There have been no problems with it, which was good since when I was little my ears got infected and I had to let them close up. Ive been trying not to touch it and let it heal on it's own.I can move the barbell without any pain.

If you are considering getting your conch pierced I say go for it.I thought it would be horrible but in reality wasn't bad at all.Other then the second it took for the needle to go through there was no pain.If you aren't very pain tolerable,my advice would be to go in there expecting the worst pain possible, like I did, you will be happily surprised when it dosen't hurt anywhere near as bad as you expected.I didn't hear any cruching noise and didn't have any bleeding problems which was 2 good things.

When I went to school the next day, no one could believe I would get that pierced.Everyone asked if it hurt and looked at me like I was crazy when I said no.It isn't very noticable if you aren't looking for it.People still come up to me at school who see me everyday and just notice a week later that I got it pierced.

Some ask if it's fake, they arent very smart.

So in ending:I love my conch piercing! The most painful of the whole experience was convincing my mom to let me get it done.It was worth every penny that I paid, even worth cutting off my dreads, which i plan to re-grow when my hair gets long. For me it was not even as painful in the end as getting my earlobes pierced. So if you are even considering to get it done, you should. It's no something everyone has or would get.It looks cool as hell and is really NOT PAINFUL!
