Well first of all I had better start from the start

I start with the usual GUN DONE (warning!warning!) single lobe ring, done at the age of eight. I have always been diverse and wanted to experience everything so even from an early age I was instantly interested in body modification. While expanding my knowledge of the subject I stumble across BME and witness the beautiful septum ring. Wow, it was amazing and I HAD to have one. I was 15 when I realised this, so the only way was the self-inflicted way. The process went fine apart from it not being straight, the reason it retired 5 months later. In the summer of my 16th year on this planet I fell in love with a labret spike I spotted on a fellow skater and the parental persuasion techniques didn't stop until permission was acquired. So, off I went to the first studio I came across (bad idea, should browse) and got my labret pierced. The place was groggy and doggy but I didn't care because I was going to get my lip pierced. This healed fine and I still have and love my labret spike. I needed some thing new and interesting so back I went to browse BME. I loved to look of some eyelets I saw and thought they would look amazing on both my ears so I went to my now local studio, White Flame. I knew instantly this was a great place with friendly people, sterile environment and a piercer with over ten years experience. I got my other lobe pierced and began the stretch up to 0g. During the stretch I noticed significant difference between the properly done lobe and the gun done lobe, the gun done lobe was always tighter and more painful and the properly done lobe wasn't. Now that I have my 0g eyelets in I am happy although the trip to 000g and beyond is inevitable. I had had my eye on an industrial for quite some time but it had to be a special industrial, not just any so the conch to tragus was chosen.

For about a week I set a date for the next weekend to go to white flame and get my tragus pierced, £25.The plan was to get my tragus done one weekend, conch done later when I can afford it (£25) and buy the industrial barbell whenever. So I read experiences and checked out the photos on BME. I noticed the lack of conch to tragus industrial photos (only 5 or 6) so this made me want it even more, knowing the rarity of it. The weekend arrived and my girlfriend and me went shopping first before making the visit to the studio. When we went to White Flame I explained to Sarge, the piercer, what I wanted to do and he informed me he would do the whole lot for £40. So being spur-of –the-moment I went for it. Sarge informed me that he was going to do both the piercing with individual pieces of jewellery initially, then he would put in the barbell after a couple of weeks. By now my girlfriend was more nervous than I was and couldn't even watch when Sarge was marking the positioning on my ear!. I was a little nervous because I was only expecting one piercing but that made it all the more enjoyable. The conch was done first, this was a lot less painful than expected and it didn't really bother me. Then the tragus, this was ok at the start then suddenly stung but after a couple of seconds this was cool as well. Two weeks went by of saline solution cleaning and salt soaks. The salt soaks involved putting my whole ear in the bowl of salt water, which was quite messy and killed my neck after 15 minutes. On the second weekend I returned to White Flame. The two pieces of jewellery were removed and the barbell put in. This felt really weird and my tragus was pulled out at a weird angle and it all felt a bit tight. I was told that it might swell and be a bit sensitive for a couple of days as the holes have to re-adjust and line up, the main thing was it looked AMAZING. Well, its been a day now and already it feels a lot better. Sarge made a good point after putting the barbell in, 'When you see things in magazines and BME they are all healed and look brilliant but you've got to remember it's the getting to that stage that's the hard part'. Remember these words when thinking about getting a technical or rare piercing. My future plans are to get my septum re-done (straight and properly this time), a conch to cartilage orbital, a conch ring and a tragus ring on my opposite ear.
